Project: HVAC Replacement and Repair of Building 6468 (Flight Training Building)
Contract Value: $1,860,000

Project Description:
This project has been initialized due to the poor efficiency and effectiveness of the previous cooling system at Building 6468. ASI's job was to design a new system that would not only work more effectively (in that it would cool rooms to a proper temperature, no more and no less) but also to install a more efficient system. ASI's designers imagined a water cooled system which, after all costs and extra maintenance fees due to the added systems and equipment, is overall 25% more efficient in energy consumption. The water cooled system meant that we would need to enlarge the initial mechanical enclosure to be large enough to house two more large cooling towers. Enlargement of the mechanical room meant new slabs and CMU (Concrete Masonry Unit) walls, along with a roof and several other features, such as pumps and an all new piping system. On top of the outside work, interior work was also a key in the revamping of the old air conditioning system. Interior work included rewiring of all control systems, replacement of all controls to a new, more robust system that can be controlled at a remote location or on site, and replacement of other HVAC features such as duct work and control interfaces. Upon completion of this job, Building 6468 will not only be cooled properly and effectively so that all occupants remain comfortable despite different requirements of cold air volume, but it will also consume less energy thus becoming a green friendly building.
