Urban Assault Course and Training Facility, Schofield Barracks, HI

Return to Current Projects

Project Description:
This project is designed to replace the Army Multiple Assault Course on Range KR-1 and KR-1 A in the upper slopes of the West Range of Schofield Barracks, near Kolekole Pass. This venue is approximately ten acres on medium slopes and includes seven different training scenarios. These include an underground training maze of 3' diameter pipes. These lead to a 3 level Offense / Defense Building, built of CMU and Pre-cast Concrete slab construction, where one squad can defend the building while another attacks. There is a Breech Trainer where soldiers can learn to break in doors and windows and climb solid walls. The Individual Task Trainer and Squad and Platoon Trainer teach skills in a simulated Urban Environment such as would be found overseas. There is a new grenadier range with 4 SIT's (Stationary Infantry Targets) and a building façade. This Basic Training is required in the new Urban Warfare Zones. The Live Shoot House will feature a maze with bullet absorbing walls, movable target placements all under a 74' by 63' Pre-Engineered Building. The entire site is wired with cameras and fiber optic data collection cables from the pop-up targets at each scenario back to the After Action Review Building where all training can be reviewed and improved. On a somewhat less intriguing note, the project includes a Storage Building and a Latrine.
